May and June see the return of guided cruises to meet the little penguins of the St. Lawrence. A unique experience with Croisières Lachance. Stéphane from Tourisme Chaudière-Appalaches did it last year, and his article made me want to do it again. I’ve decided to book it for this year!

Grosse-Île is a must-see national historic site. To visit this former quarantine station is to follow in the footsteps of tens of thousands of immigrants who arrived in Canada between 1832 and 1937. Grosse-Île is, without a doubt, Quebec’s best-kept secret! I highly recommend this instructive outing!

Every morning between May and June, Donald Lachance rises at the crack of dawn to set out on the St. Lawrence River to raise his gillnets, from which he draws the Atlantic sturgeon. The fishmonger’s specializes in the processing of Atlantic sturgeon, which can be found in a variety of homemade products. I go to the fishmonger’s to get products cooked on site and fresh fish from the Maritimes!

May and June are often windy months. Water sports enthusiast? La Plage Motel offers comfortable rooms just a stone’s throw from the river… It’s the perfect place to practice your favorite activity if you’ve got your gear… In the spring, I’ll be stopping by to see these visiting enthusiasts practicing their hobby!

From mid-May to late June, lake water temperatures are ideal. Speckled trout are very active and fishing is excellent. Spoons and flies are used, and 95% of anglers reach their quotas. Day or overnight packages are available to enjoy all the activities on offer here. I can’t wait to shout “Fish on!

On the Route des Navigateurs, a stop at the Berthier-sur-Mer quay is always a pleasure. I like to stop comfortably at the terrace of Restaurant l’Amiral for a full meal and enjoy the view of the St. Lawrence River. For those in a hurry, it’s possible to order at the counter with its Papi Pataterie snack offer. And enjoy a picnic at the river park!

Appalachian Park means Sugar Loaf Mountain! The hike is well worth the effort, as the panoramic view from the summit is exceptional. The climb is via the Garde-feu trail. It’s a good challenge. It’s perfect for me, as it’s still not too hot in May and June.
