What to do in july

 In holiday mode!

It’s the perfect time to slow down, explore undiscovered corners, meet new people… and create memories you won’t soon forget. Here are our top suggestions for July .

Louis's suggestion  A grandiose adventure park

I highly recommend that you discover the largest aerial adventure park in Quebec, Ziptopia! Located in the heart of Parc du Massif du Sud, Ziptopia really surprised me with the sheer size of its facilities and the impressive number of zip lines. Perfect for a family outing, children as young as 3 can take part (in the “Village” section). The site offers three experiences to suit all levels, including the brand-new Ultimate Experience, which culminates in a spectacular 1,000-foot zip line!

Sara's suggestion  Discover our history together!

After cancelling a visit when I was in CEGEP and procrastinating for several years, I’ve decided to visit the Grosse Île National Historic Site this summer! What better time to learn more about the history of our people than on a sunny day on the river. What’s more, my boyfriend and I have received a gift certificate to Hôtel l’Oiselière in Montmagny (which includes babysitting for the little one by her grandparents), so it’s the perfect time to take a trip to our beautiful region! Psst! Admission to the historic site is free this summer, so all you have to do is pay for the boat trip.

Amélie's suggestion  Seafood, terrace and sunset

In July, I finally took the time to try out the new lovers’ terrace at the Quai 1635 restaurant, now in Lévis since last year. Located on the basin of the Parc nautique Lévy, where the sunsets are just waiting to happen. The menu reflects the ambience of the place, with seafood such as squid, scallops, lobster and tuna. In short, everything to please me. And if you prefer to go out with friends, there are live music and DJs every Thursday from 4pm to 6pm.

Marie-Christine's suggestion  A surprising new exhibition

I visited the new permanent exhibition “HIVERNAGE / UKIITILLUGU” at the Musée Maritime du Québec in L’Islet. The exhibition recounts various accounts of Captain Bernier’s seven wintering voyages in the Canadian Arctic archipelago, where he made some wonderful encounters between the Inuit and crews from the south. In this world of cold and long Arctic nights, the whites have everything to learn from the Inuit about survival. You’ll make some surprising discoveries.

Florence's suggestion  A weekend to slow down and reconnect

I recently fell in love with a place that I absolutely have to share with you! My boyfriend and I discovered Havre du Lac Vert, a peaceful little spot perfect for getting away from it all. We rented a room for the weekend and took full advantage of the outdoor activities on site. As we’re both keen cyclists, we couldn’t resist the call of the nearby Cycloroute de Bellechasse. It’s a great ride, and the scenery all around makes it even more enjoyable! The next day, it was time to relax: we swapped our helmets for paddles and took a leisurely paddleboard ride on Lac Vert. This little trip did us a world of good! Whether you’re a solo traveller, a couple or a family, I think Havre du Lac Vert is an ideal destination for slowing down and reconnecting.

Sarah's suggestion  A picnic near the falls

Having a picnic in summer makes me so happy. Even more so when the scenery is magnificent. At the Parc des Chutes-de-la-Chaudière; you need a bit of time and the right shoes to get there, but eating a good sandwich so close to the falls is definitely a moment of happiness. Enjoy your picnic!

Laetitia's suggestion  Living a purely Quebec tradition

July is the perfect time for a theatre evening. This time, I’m going with my brother, a long-time companion when it comes to this kind of outing. Summer theatres, a purely Quebec tradition, offer a unique and colourful experience. This month, we’re heading to La Roche à Veillon, a charming summer theatre in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, to see the play ‘Voleurs d’occasion’. This comedy full of misunderstandings and endearing characters offers a warm atmosphere and guaranteed laughs! You can also enjoy a delicious sugar pie at the theatre’s restaurant. It’s the perfect summer outing!

Odile's suggestion  My summer tradition: Every summer, the same pleasure!

I’m a native of Les Etchemins, and every summer, my ritual is non-negotiable: a day at the Éco-Parc. When my daughters were little, they used to go sliding all the time. Now that they’re teenagers, they turn up with their friends… and we end up on a giant paddle board, howling with laughter (and falling over, of course). And yes, no matter how old you are, chilling out on the beach, devouring a crusty poutine and gliding along in the big blue waves always has an effect. The years go by, but this corner of summer keeps intact what brings us together.

Jeff Frenette's suggestion  Stop time at Ile du Cheval

How about a real break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life? Start by closing your eyes and imagining that you’re on an island all to yourself, right in the middle of the St. Lawrence River, far from the hectic pace of the city. It’s not a dream, it’s Île du Cheval! Nestling in the Isle-aux-Grues archipelago, this nugget is a veritable haven of peace where untouched nature meets modern comforts. Whether you’re here for just a day or a whole holiday, this little treasure of our beautiful region is the perfect place to get away from it all!
