Our 15 must-haves

At the start of 2024, we asked over 1,500 tourists to reveal their must-see attractions in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. Here’s the verdict!

1. Miller Zoo

Discover the history of this zoo, also a wildlife rehabilitation center, from the popular TV show Un zoo pas comme les autres. Enjoy feeding the farm animals, meet Sheira the tigress and Alfred the moose. Learn more about their habitats and touching stories.

2. Massif du Sud Park

Open year-round

See if you can spot a moose on the trail, challenge your kids on the hebertism track, try out the new mountain bike trails, cross-country ski, Hok ski and sleep in a Pod! Nature’s bliss!

3. Cruises and visits to Grosse-Île

Open until mid-October

Immerse yourself in the story of an immigrant and discover moving stories and magnificent landscapes in the company of Parks Canada guides. The adventure begins in Berthier-sur-Mer, where the cruise to Grosse-Île departs.

4. Saint-Jean-Port-Joli

Saint-Jean-Port-Joli is a renowned tourist village. Situated on the shores of the St. Lawrence River, you’ll discover workshops, galleries, museums and parks that bear witness to the predominant role still played by sculpture and fine crafts.

5. Chaudière Falls Park

Open year-round

Admire the 35 m-high falls from the footbridge suspended 23 m above the Chaudière River, or from one of the many lookouts. Picnic areas, a children’s park, hiking trails and a bike path will get you moving!

6. Quai Paquet

Open year-round

For relaxation, picnics and refreshment, the Quai Paquet fountain with its 169 water jets is the perfect public square. The traverse, the Parcours des Anses and the most beautiful view of Quebec City attract a large number of curious visitors, day and night.

7. Domaine Joly-De Lotbinière

Open until mid-October

Are you looking for a peaceful garden in which to relax, birdwatch, photograph nature, take a family outing, walk in the forest or simply stroll along the river? Domaine Joly-De Lotbinière has it all.

8. Appalachian Park

Open year-round

Discover 140 km of hiking trails. Boat rentals in summer, snowshoes and scooters in winter. Free access to most trails. For a change of scenery in the forest, sleep in a refuge. The best part? Dogs are welcome everywhere!

9. Parcours des Anses

Open year-round

On the banks of the St. Lawrence River, this multifunctional trail offers 15 km of fun for your favorite sport. All along the way, you’ll enjoy the panoramic views. Those who want to do more can join the Cycloroute de Bellechasse.

10. Woodooliparc

Open all year round

This park of over 120 life-size dinosaurs lets you explore the jungle, observe dinosaurs in their natural habitat and discover the world of paleontology. Air Woodoli, Destination 737 takes you on a fascinating TOUR OF THE WORLD! What’s more, from late November onwards, experience Frima, the magic of Christmas, a Christmas village for the whole family with illuminated forest trails.

11. Frontenac National Park

Open until mid-October

Characterized by the presence of Grand Lac Saint-François, discover the park on foot, by bike or by relaxing on the beach. Experience a privileged contact with wildlife while camping, canoe-camping or ready-to-camp.

12. Les Bleuets du Vire-Crêpes

Open from spring to autumn

Les Bleuets du Vire-Crêpes offers a range of products worthy of this magnificent fruit. Self-picking, sales of local products and blueberry cosmetics, breakfasts or desserts in the warm atmosphere of the Café du Vire-Crêpes, not forgetting their star product, soft blueberry ice cream.

13. Musée maritime du Québec

Get in touch with our history in a different, fun way, with privileged access to our river and its incredible landscapes. Come aboard the Icebreaker Ernest Lapointe. Discover the new river park with its permanent open-air exhibition, extensive programming, contemporary installations… And much more!

14. Auberge des Glacis

L’Auberge des Glacis is a treasure nestled in a vast estate between the river and the mountains. A page of Côte-du-Sud history is engraved on the stone walls of this former seigniorial mill, dating back to 1841. In a warm dining room, discover the unique flavors of a gourmet table concocted with local products.

15. Isle-aux-Grues

Open year-round

Anchored in the middle of the St. Lawrence, the Isle-aux-Grues archipelago is a haven of peace. It’s accessible by ferry, cruise ship and airplane. Stop off at the Fromagerie de l’Isle and hike the trails of the Réserve Jean-Paul-Riopelle.
