Hit the road for a relaxing weekend at the Hôtel du Domaine. On the program: spa, massage, good food and a luxurious suite. Paradise for lovers!

 Little moments for lovers

My boyfriend and I love impromptu romantic getaways like this one. In fact, since my boyfriend works outside the home, when he comes back, we try to enjoy the gems of our beautiful region. Often, we don’t give each other gifts, but prefer to treat ourselves to cute little moments and create memories together.

To be honest, Hôtel du Domaine is one of our favorite hotel accommodations here in the region, and it’s far from our first visit. This establishment has so much to offer, for couples, families and business events alike. With its turquoise lake stealing the show and becoming the center of attraction, it’s a real change of scenery.

 Mission détente

We always start our stay with a spa experience at the Noah Spa in Thetford, adjacent to the hotel. The Noah Spa thermal experience includes access to the eaunergic basin, which has eight stations with distinct benefits, the indoor and outdoor hot spas, the indoor cold basin, the dry sauna, the eucalyptus hammam, and the various relaxation zones for a duration of 4 hours. For our part, we have a slight preference for the 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. block, which gives us time to enjoy the evening afterwards. If Antoine, my boyfriend, falls asleep after a round in the pools, it’s because the relaxation mission is a success, and it is, almost every time!

What I love most about Noah Spa in Thetford is the view of the mining mountains and the turquoise pool in the various relaxation areas. What’s more, we love the outdoor hot tubs for their intimacy and magnificent views over the site.

We're treating ourselves to the executive suite!

And now let’s check in at the hotel. The Hôtel du Domaine has plenty of choice, with 32 rooms, 56 suites and 3 luxury chalets. To do things differently this time, we indulged in the hotel’s most spacious room, an executive suite. The large bathtub and shower, the private balcony, the sitting area and the fireplace that added ambiance, it was magnificent! We had so much space, since this suite normally accommodates up to 6 people.

Eating in the comfort of your room

Once the luggage was in, hunger began to set in. We decided to order a sharing plank for two directly from the hotel restaurant, Grill des Appalaches. A great appetizer after an afternoon at the spa: Parma prosciutto, Genoa salami, terrine of the moment, olive méli-mélo, mini pickles, old-fashioned mustard and Antipasto Calabrese. All to be enjoyed on the private balcony of our room for the perfect aperitif. It’s also possible to eat in their magnificent dining room on the ground floor, but for our part, we wanted to enjoy the peace and quiet of our room.

That’s why we even decided not to go out on the town to the restaurant for dinner, but had it delivered straight to the room. Indeed, it’s pleasant since the hotel offers a list of nearby restaurants with detailed information on opening hours and delivery or takeaway options. Our choice was Pizzéria du Boulevard and its comforting menu, which has a very good reputation here in the area. On the table tonight are pizza, lasagne, ribs, fried chicken, French onions and chicken wings. Nothing too healthy, but very comforting.

 Time for brunch!

The next morning, we wake up once again to a magnificent view of the mine mountains and the turquoise lake – I’d never do without it. What’s more, you sleep so well here, their beds are so comfortable. We slept like little babies. Maybe that’s another reason why we love this hotel so much. We leave the room, but before we go, we treat ourselves to breakfast in the hotel restaurant: eggs Benedict and a brunch plate. We promised ourselves we’d come back next time for the famous Sunday mornings when they offer their all-you-can-eat brunch table!
