Au Queb: Girls’ tour of Beauce

The madness of September is well behind us now! So as not to put our holiday mood too far behind us, we’re putting a little getaway in the Chaudière-Appalaches region on the fall todo. We’re taking you with us to the Beauce for a fun, uncomplicated girls’ getaway. On the program: rejuvenation in nature, good food, relaxation and lots of encounters with passionate and welcoming Beaucerons. We’re off!

We begin our journey in Saint-Bernard with a gentle introduction to horseback riding at Ranch Bo Soleil. Starting the day with a horseback ride through a forest bursting with fresh dew… it’s hard to beat! We have a special place in our hearts for Martine and Martin, the friendly and passionate owners of the place, who take great pleasure in passing on their equestrian knowledge to the young and not-so-young of the region.

First time on a horse? No problem! The ranch team will take the time to show you the basics, so you’ll feel completely safe. After that, it’s just a matter of becoming one with your beast and taking it easy through the fields and woods. If you’re like us, you’ll be blown away by the beauty of the local landscape!

Pssst! If you’d like to enhance the experience, private and semi-private lessons are available to learn to ride western or classic. Day camps are also offered throughout the summer for young riders.

Because the great outdoors whets the appetite, we’re off to Verger à Ti-Paul, a Saint-Elzéar institution. It’s known for its pick-your-own produce, but Ti-Paul’s hidden treasure… is undoubtedly the delicious meals concocted on site!

For BBQ trippers, there’s an impressive smokehouse in the backyard. It sets the tone for the menu! We serve poutine with pulled pork, smoked chicken drumsticks, ribs, brisket burgers and more. Everything is simply divine! As for spirits, the place produces a dozen varieties of cider, which Josiane, the sparkling owner, will be delighted to introduce to you. If the choice is too difficult, you’ll have to opt for a tasting tray!

Locals will tell you that Ti-Paul is THE place to go for the best pies in Beauce. It’s not for nothing that the word “Tarterie” is part of the business name! The whole time we were there, pies were sold by the score as they came out of the oven. You had to be on the lookout to get one! Having brought some home and eaten them very quickly, we can confirm the rumour… these pies are succulent!

We’ll have to come back with the little ones to stroll through the orchard, of course, but also to have fun in the farmhouse, on the inflatable games, the tractor or the train. There’s even a singer-songwriter on the terrace at weekends. I hear the atmosphere is quite festive!
