On a Friday evening in January, after a busy week running back and forth between work and family life, we set aside some romantic time for ourselves. We chose to drop in at Le Théophile, our palates already excited by the many good comments we’d heard about the place. Our expectations were real and, in turn, we were charmed!

 Harmony between past and present

From the moment we enter Le Théophile‘s space, we feel warmly welcomed, like friends or family. In this magnificent ancestral home in Old Saint-Romuald (the former general store), the décor is inviting: brick walls, majestic windows and original woodwork, with a modern touch provided by carefully chosen lighting fixtures. Harmony between past and present.

We take our seats and salivate even more as we read the menu. I look around at the diverse clientele, the lively, relaxed atmosphere, the tempting dishes that are starting to circulate, and I can’t help but think how delighted I am to (finally) discover a restaurant of this kind in Lévis!

 Let's share!

The concept is to share several small portions, which we love.

It’s an invitation to discover and indulge, and we love it!

We start with a delicious signature cocktail made with Labrador tea. At Le Théophile, the focus is on local, seasonal and boreal products, as well as creativity in revisiting certain classics. Then, on the dining side, we choose to share six plates that particularly caught our eye.

 Honoring traditions by sublimating local products

Each season unveils a new menu full of discoveries. We take it in turns to taste dishes to share, each just as delicious and carefully prepared as the next:

  • Squash arancini;
  • Leek tartlet and goat’s cheese and pistachio cromesquis;
  • Hot-smoked Arctic char with sorrel and samphire sauce;
  • Mujol caviar and dune pepper blini;
  • Venison tartar with mushroom nougatine, fir oil and bread tuile;
  • Fried soft-shell crab with ginger emulsion;
  • Veal sweetbreads and beet declension – chiogga, purée and chips.

The wine list is equally tempting. We opted for a pleasant natural orange maceration wine to accompany the meal. Of course, we also wanted to try the desserts! Our choices: sticky toffee pudding with melting salted caramel, mascarpone chantilly and homemade sponge taffy, followed by melilot custard fritters, yogurt snow and caramelized pears. Quite simply, a feast!

A variety of sought-after and unique flavors, quality artisanal products, refinement and creativity in presentation, all visibly concocted with love and topped off with friendly service. At the end of the evening, we leave Le Théophile’s with our hearts and bellies full of this exquisite evening!
