Fall under the spell of Armagh Falls Park

Autumn is a season to be seized when it comes! Its beautiful days are, in my opinion, among the most pleasant of the year, so we didn’t hesitate to immerse ourselves in the warm, vibrant colors of October in the Bellechasse region.

Fall under the spell of Armagh Falls Park

On our way to Saint-Philémon, we made a stop in Armagh, at the Parc des chutes d’Armagh, which offers a 5-kilometre network of forest hiking trails along the Armagh River. An ideal route for the whole family, with many magnificent views over the water and various interpretation panels informing us about the surrounding flora and fauna. At the northern end of the trails, a footbridge overlooks a majestic 30-metre waterfall (temporarily closed at the time of our visit, but whose power we were able to glimpse out of the corner of our eye).

As we meandered along the river, we came to the waterfall area, which we particularly enjoyed. It was an inviting place to rest and feel the fiery energy of the rushing water, contrasting with the soothing calm of the forest. Our walk also took us to a brand-new hebertism track, which delighted the children.

 A bit of history

Near the reception area is the small Gare museum. The Gare Langlois, dating from 1916, has been renovated and features artifacts and photos from the era. The children are always full of questions when they come across objects from the past (the old telephone, the typewriter and the chamber pot have piqued their curiosity).

It’s great to share their thoughts and realize how comfortable we are today. Armagh Falls Park offers not only a superb forest hike, but also a historical component, and it’s possible to have a meal on site at the restaurant-bar, which serves home-style cooking.

 Leaping from tree to tree!

We continued on to Parc du Massif du Sud, where we couldn’t wait to play in the trees on the new Ziptopia course! Parc Massif du Sud has a knack for well-crafted facilities, never losing sight of the fact that nature immersion, enhancement and preservation must remain in the spotlight.

Aerial bridges, climbing walls and zip lines: a real adventure! Taking up challenges, encouraging each other in the face of obstacles, surpassing ourselves – what a wonderful experience for the whole family! We hadn’t even finished the course and knew we’d be back for more, because we had such a great time.

That Sunday afternoon in the blazing October canopy is sure to live long in our precious family memories!

A good idea for next time would be to bring a picnic to extend the pleasure. And the icing on the cake was a moment of infectious laughter in the bouncing nets of Ziptopia Village, where we traversed secret passages, climbed landings and twirled through colorful balls.

Finishing this trip on a high note!

This outdoor activity whetted our appetites, so we rounded off our trip to southern Bellechasse with a bite to eat and a drink at the Pub de la Contrée. Thirst-quenching beer from Microbrasserie de Bellechasse, accompanied by gourmet platters of local products to share, delighted our taste buds!

A variety of cheeses, pâtés, charcuterie, nachos and homemade pogos for the kids, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and perhaps our last terrace of the year – what better way to end a memorable day.
