Playing tourist in our own town is what we did as a family on a mild January afternoon. What fun it was to discover an unusual winter activity: dog-sledding!

An activity out of the ordinary

While we’re always thrilled by outdoor activities, those involving animals leave a more lasting impression on our memories. At Passion Husky, the dogs share a unique, ethical living environment with their great big pack.

Each with their own personality and charm

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by Tallulah (co-owner), who invited us to pet the playful animal that was coming towards us, before introducing us to our sledge guide, who is passionate about her job. After a short training session to learn the basic manoeuvres, we were ready to take control of our sled and set off to meet the huskies that would make up our happy team. Steeve was impatient to get going, bouncing around on the spot, while Marcel never let Ryder out of his sight. Clyde was more delicate, but just as lively, Soldier, a gentle giant, seemed to be experienced and Houdini, as mischievous as could be, didn’t have his name by chance. In short, they each had their own personality and charm, and once they were harnessed up, they couldn’t wait to go for a run in the forest!

 The vigour of huskies

Generous light snow had fallen the night before, adding to the enchantment of the moment. As soon as our guide took to the path with his dogs, ours followed and plunged into the woods. During the excursion, the enthusiasm of the dogs was obvious; as soon as we had to slow down, they turned towards us as if to say that they still had energy. Both brave and playful, we were impressed by the huskies’ vigour. Their feverishness was in stark contrast to the peaceful, soothing landscape around us.

 An exceptional connection with nature

On the way back, the dogs were calmer, and the children were able to take their time petting them, before being offered a hot chocolate to round off the activity.

We extended the visit by warming up by the large outdoor fireplace. A little way back, we could observe the pack and the dynamic between the dogs was captivating. The exhilaration of the dogs combined with the contemplation of nature created an exceptional connection with it. An enjoyable adventure!
