The awakening of nature is a sight to look forward to every spring. In May, the arrival of the first flowers marks the start of the best months of the year, the return of color to the outdoors and the promise of the warmth that is just around the corner.

 We had a great time!

So we were all excited and light-hearted when we saw the announcement of the opening of the pick-your-own tulips at the farm À ciel ouvert. The idea of a bouquet freshly picked by the family to brighten up the house afterwards literally made my day!

When we head east, we take the 132, to follow the river, pass through beautiful villages and make gourmet stops. This time, we took a refreshment break at the Vieille Route snack bar. The classics were well executed, with a particular favorite being the club sandwich, the Italian poutine and the crispy onion rings. A real treat! The first meals outside always have an intoxicating effect on morale.

The launch of the ice cream season

We’ve saved a little room for dessert, though, and kicked off the ice cream season with the delights of À ciel ouvert. Nectar, strawberry slush, organic berry sorbets, oat milk ice creams and new this season: vegan chocolate dips. So it was with cones in hand and smiles on our faces that we marvelled at the sublime field of tulips in the late afternoon light.

A place that warms the heart!

There’s no need to use pruning shears, as we pick directly from the bulbs, before putting the finishing touches to our bouquets in the florist’s shop. We got our hands on some magnificent double and speciality tulips, to make a generous bouquet that we’ll be delighted to see unfurl at home.

The farm À ciel ouvert is one of those places that brings joy to the heart! Justine and Samuel’s warm welcome, their thoughtful attention to detail, the sustainability values of the project, the flavors that delight the taste buds and the soothing beauty of the countryside. An enjoyable visit every time!
