December is here! For many people, the Holiday season is just around the corner. It’s a time of celebration and precious moments shared as a family. Between days of rest and others of festivities, the mood is one of sharing, fun and activities that do good!

 A favourite destination for families

Children are curious by nature, so it’s always a pleasure to help them feed their thirst for learning. That’s precisely the spirit in which we set out to discover a creative workshop that piqued our curiosity: becoming a chocolate apprentice for a morning at La Pralinière, in the village of Lac-Etchemin.

With innovation at the heart of its mission, La Pralinière is an artisan chocolate factory founded in 1990 by a Belgian chocolatier, then taken over in 2015 by a young local entrepreneur keen to breathe new life into the business. With its high-quality handmade chocolates and a range of products (fondues, coatings, desserts and much more), as well as a creamery open all year round, La Pralinière is a favourite destination for families!

 Playing the apprentice chocolatier

During our educational visit, we were able to enjoy an immersive experience in the delicious world of chocolate, and learn more about this favourite fruit (yes, yes) for young and old alike, as well as how top-quality chocolate is made.

The children were delighted to take part in the workshop, as they were able to make their own festive hot chocolate bombs generously filled with the toppings of their choice.

The workshops are offered all year round and vary from month to month, so you can always come back to learn something new, fun and tasty.

 Tasting at home

To keep the fun going, the children were able to enjoy their chocolate creations by letting them melt in hot milk when they got home. The perfect comforting complement to an afternoon playing outside!

La Pralinière offers a number of lovingly-made local products to slip into your Christmas stocking, as well as a fine selection of chocolate logs to share with loved ones. Black forest, maple, dulce de leche… We fell for the decadent three-chocolate log, and we didn’t wait for the Holiday season to try it, just to get in the mood before the weather!
