Sarah’s choice Bus Stop Beaumont

You simply can’t drive along Route 132 without stopping here. Le Bus Stop is a former school bus that’s been completely transformed into a gourmet snack bar. They serve homemade pogos, burgers, hot dogs and poutine. There’s a terrace, but with the kids, we really enjoyed having a picnic in the school playground with a view of the river

I GO THERE FOR

My partner would tell you it’s for the specialities like the ‘Le STOP’ hot dog and the fried brownies; my children would say it’s for the cute burgers… but for me, it’s the delicious guédille with northern shrimps.

Louis’s choice Casse-croûte chez Line Saint-Aubert

This snack bar with its classic menu is special for so many reasons: the terrace, the décor and the great food. Chef Mathieu, Caroline and their team are delighted to serve you! The lightbulbs on the menu indicate the choices that won’t disappoint you at all!

I GO THERE FOR

Whenever I’m on a road trip and know I’ll be passing through the area, I make sure to leave room for either La Poutine Bon Jack or Le Club Enchanté, depending on what I feel like at the moment!

Jonathan’s choice Casse-croûte du Capitaine Berthier-sur-Mer

This snack bar couldn’t have a better name. It’s nestled between the river and the Route des Navigateurs, and it has a seafood menu (though that’s not all 😉) that makes my mouth water just thinking about it!

I GO THERE FOR

Their incredibly generous and absolutely perfect Fish & Ship. Listen… you eat it whilst sitting on the terrace overlooking the river. But if you prefer, you can have a picnic on the lawn or right on the beach, a little further down. It’s up to you. For my girlfriend and me, the beach is for after we’ve eaten! We always go for a walk there and dip our feet in the river.

Amélie’s choice Ferme Mille Fleurs Saint-Lazare-de-Bellechasse

Hey, yes! Because a farm isn’t just about animals. We’re here at a farm in Bellechasse to grab a bite at Jack’s Food Truck. Jack – or rather Jacob (the farm’s co-owner) – is whipping up his Highland beef burger and his speciality poutines!

I GO THERE FOR

As for me, my guilty pleasure is definitely poutine. It’s my favourite dish – I could eat it every day. When I go to play an 18-hole round at the Bellechasse Golf Club in Saint-Damien-de-Buckland, my mouth waters at the thought of tucking into my pulled pork poutine amidst the farm’s magnificent setting – an unmissable stop on our way back. A lovely treat after a round of golf.

Sara’s choice Dairy Joy Thetford Mines

Based in Thetford for over 50 years, this snack bar is a true icon of our region! Its retro look makes the experience even more authentic and turns the heads of passers-by.

I GO THERE FOR

The good old classic: the pogo! Yes, you read that right! I prefer a nice, crispy pogo to a hot dog or a burger, and of course I have it with a portion of poutine – I’m not completely mad, after all! A new addition I’ve spotted on the menu: mac and cheese croquettes. That’s definitely going on my order next time!

Stéphanie’s choice La Cabane du Boucher Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly

La Cabane du Boucher, a brilliant little eatery run by a genuine third-generation butcher and delicatessen owner. Everything is homemade using top-quality meat. It’s guaranteed to be a treat before you go for a walk to work off your meal in the beautiful village of Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly!

I GO THERE FOR

The ‘Burger du Boucher’, with its top-quality, hand-formed beef patty topped with their own artisan charcuterie, is worth the trip on its own. Not to mention the poutine with smoked meat or pulled beef, served with their homemade barbecue sauce – just the right balance of sweet and smoky – and they’re very generous with the cheese too!

Odile’s choice Casse-Croûte Ti-Paul Vallée-Jonction

Every village has its own snack bar, but this one is one of my favourites. No frills, just a lovely little chip shop serving well-made classics, a warm welcome and a good reason to make a detour via Vallée-Jonction.

I GO THERE FOR

Their half-club poutiné: the ingredients are fresh, the portions are generous and the chips stay crispy right down to the last bite. What’s more, with the cycle path and the Base Plein Air right nearby, we’ve got a brilliant excuse to work off our poutine!
