Faventure tells us about the most magical Christmas experience in Chaudière-Appalaches

FAVENTURE

If you’re looking for a place to experience the real magic of Christmas with your children, Frima at Woodooliparc (link in french) in Scott is an activity you should definitely add to your list. Every year, from 15 November to 31 December, the site is transformed into an enchanted kingdom where everything is reminiscent of the North Pole. We spent a memorable 24 hours there, and here I share with you exactly what to expect.

A magical journey through the heart of the forest

As soon as you enter Frima, you feel as if you’ve stepped into a parallel world. Huge luminous animals, giant polar bears, a rocking horse and glittering decorations line the paths. The site is vast. If you can, get there early, because even if we stayed from 2 pm to 6 pm, we didn’t have enough time to see everything.

The children were immediately amazed. They ran to the giant structures, the teddy bears, Santa’s house and the slides. It’s the kind of place where you don’t need to encourage your children to walk. They set the pace themselves because there’s so much to see.

 Santa's House

One of the highlights of the experience was the visit to Santa’s House. The smell of warm biscuits took us straight back to childhood. The collection of little Mother Christmas houses in the entrance room is magnificent. Then came the long-awaited moment. Santa Claus, seated at his desk, welcomed the children one by one.

They were able to tell him all about their wishes, explain to him what “K-pop warriors” are and even warn him that his underpants drying on the clothesline outside were a bit flashy. It was a funny moment and genuine Mother Christmas had a good laugh!

I was also impressed by the kindness and professionalism of the staff. You can tell they genuinely enjoy creating this magical moment.

After Santa’s House, it was off to the giant slides, the outdoor tree and all the lights that transformed the site into a film set. The sun set, but the magic continued. While the children played with the elves, the adults warmed up around the fire. Hot chocolate for the little ones, a “happy” version for the grown-ups. We then made eternal snow in the Bric-à-Brac elf’s workshop, before dropping a letter in Santa’s huge letterbox.

 Slides, elves and hot chocolate

We finished the evening with the final show, featuring the elves and the ‘dance of the penguins’, before leaving a little reluctantly.

Sleeping at La Cache à Maxime

To make the experience last, we chose to sleep at La Cache à Maxime, located right next door. We had a spacious, comfortable suite that was perfect for a family. The evening meal was delicious, especially the tartare and poutine with Beauceron cheese. The service was warm and attentive, both at dinner and at breakfast the next day.

It was the perfect end to a day that will live long in our memories. If you enjoyed this article, be sure to sign up for our newsletter so you don’t miss out on the best family activities in Quebec!
