Pint of beer

In Quebec

Because a pint of beer is always best enjoyed with cheeks reddened by a good day’s outdoor fun, we’re taking you to the Beauce today for an uncomplicated roadtrip combining winter sports and gourmet pleasures! On the agenda: two of our favourite places that are simply perfect to visit with spring starting to show its face.

 Aventuria: aerial nature trails

We’re starting our Saint-Jules getaway with a dizzyingly fun experience. In summer and winter alike, Aventuria offers aerial trails that take you from tree to tree through obstacles of varying degrees of difficulty.

The facilities are located in the middle of a pine forest, which seems to add to the feeling of grandeur! Securely strapped in, you cross bridges, nets, pipes and even a Tarzan rope to complete the trails. As the modules gradually increase in complexity, you defy heights without even realising it. The final loop at the very top offers a panoramic view of the village of Saint-Jules. A great reward after that adrenalin rush!

Our favourite feature is the many zip lines! There are 16 in all, totalling over 1 kilometer of great fun. The longest one crosses the entire park and offers sensations you’ll want to experience for real!

Note that in winter, the trails are open to the public on Saturdays only. The minimum age required is 9 or 11, depending on the trail.

Frampton Brasse: for a good time!

The tour continues with one of the most bucolic spots in Chaudière-Appalaches: Frampton Brasse. Just drive along Road 5 and 6 to reach the brewery farm, and you’ll be charmed by the typically Beauceron hilly landscape!

Before heading to the tasting room, put on your snowshoes and take a stroll along the trail that starts behind the estate’s ancestral barn. The 3-kilometer trail, which is just easy enough, links the microbrewery to the village of Frampton and winds its way through some beautiful local countryside.

Our favorite is the Highland cattle, which watch you curiously as you cross the fields.

 Something for everyone!

After you’ve done just enough, it’s time to unwind. And you’ve come to the right place! Let yourself be tempted by one of the 18 beers carefully brewed on site. Our favourite choices there? Definitely Nuit d’Automne, a strong (still 10%!) and very smooth dark ale. This product, one of the first to be produced by the Poulin family, has won a number of medals and awards over the years. Looking for more springtime flavour? Try Bouquet Tropical, a NEIPA with just fruity enough.

We can enjoy these tasty nectars indoors (we particularly like the counter-bar overlooking the brewhouse!), or outside on their country-style terrace, which is open all year round. Cheers!

Guided tours are available on request. Dogs on leashes are allowed. Events such as torchlight snowshoe hikes often take place. Keep up to date with the programme by visiting their Facebook page.

 Want to extend the pleasure?

Psssst! Less than 5 minutes from Frampton Brasse is Springbrook Chapel, a small church tucked away off Route 216. Once you’ve parked your car, you’ll have to cross a tiny woodland to reach the heritage building. A nice short diversions!

And if you just don’t feel like leaving the region any more (we know what you mean!), stay at the La Cache à Maxime hotel in Scott, an establishment with a solid reputation in the Beauce region. We love the little chalets, the spacious open-plan suites, the ice ring, the great food and, of course, the proximity of the Noah Spa, which is right in the hotel complex.

So, will we see you in Beauce soon?
