The arrival of spring makes you want to discover new things!

A thrift shop, contemporary art and dessert table plan seemed like the perfect way to get together with friends and discover new and old places in my home town of Lévis.

Ode to the 80s and 90s

First stop, Le Toit Vert (link in french) in Saint-Romuald, a thrift shop that stands out for the quality and originality of its selection, its good prices, its vintage decor and its friendly welcome. With its ode to the 80s and 90s, western pieces, band t-shirts, Levi’s jeans, second-hand jewellery, and an array of patches and pins to personalise a unique piece, there are plenty of great finds to be made on the spot. Restocking is regular, and some items are labelled at $0, a surprise for customers.

Take part in the Manif d'art

We then walked along the river to the Regart centre (link in french). The gallery is taking part in the Manif d’art as part of the biennale de Québec. The Sea bath projection by Ontario artist Racquel Rowe, originally from Barbados, plunged us into a sea bath. The ocean as a place of communion with salt water, a family tradition where shared gestures become memories. It was a soothing performance that made you want to set sail, especially at the end of March!

 An English Sunday tea

Our third stop was Local Table à Desserts (link in french) , where we dined on the delights of Belgian chef Camille Leroy. The place, devoted exclusively to desserts, has just opened in a bright, carefully decorated space that is sure to contribute to the dynamism of this part of Lauzon. When we visited, it was an English-style Sunday tea, with the theme of sugar time. We sipped herbal teas and teas galore in pretty antique earthenware, then shared generous platters of sweet delicacies. Pouding chômeur revisited, verrine of maple panna cotta, scône with homemade cream and jam, Belgian-style sugar tart (a family recipe), bouchées brownies, cream sugar, a pleasant mix of textures and flavours featuring our liquid gold that delighted our taste buds.

We were also tempted by a few marbled cream sugars to take home and make the sweet pleasure last (and share)!
