I’ve always had a soft spot for businesses that don’t hesitate to reinvent themselves! Golf Beaurivage (link in french), 15 minutes from the bridges on the south shore, has gone all out with a range of winter activities for all tastes on its superb wooded course.

We choose to skate in the forest

Cross-country skiing, fatbike and snowshoeing trails are available over several kilometers. For cross-country skiing, the trails join up with the existing network at the Club de St-Étienne, providing a new starting point. For snowshoeing and fatbikes, the trails are set right on the golf course, and equipment can be hired on site.

For our first family visit, we chose the forest skating trail! It’s almost 2.5 kilometers through a majestic forest, with a quality of ice that’s pleasantly surprising for this kind of trail, but above all it’s a magical, soothing setting. At the time of our visit, the sun was dazzling and a beautiful snow had fallen the night before, making the scenery even more enchanting.

 A well-developed trail

We were able to put on our skates in a log cabin before setting off on the icy path. The trail is sometimes more forested, sometimes more open, with views over the snow-covered valleys of the golf course.

Halfway along the trail, we came across another small hut open to nature, with a large table ideal for a winter picnic (which we underestimate, it’s so nice to eat outside in winter) or simply to have a snack.

A few Adirondack chairs under the fir trees were also an invitation to relax, while letting the sun’s rays caress us. It’s a really great idea for Club de Golf Beaurivage to offer these comfort zones so you can make the most of the place.

 Break around the fire

When we returned from our skating outing, a warm outdoor log fire was waiting for us near the reception area, with its enchanting spruce fragrances, we indulged in hot chocolates to prolong the pleasure.

The main chalet, with its large fireplace, is also a very comfortable place to warm up, relax or have a bite to eat before or after the activity.

The trail is also lit at night and it must be quite a different atmosphere to skate in the twinkling glow of garlands of lights, enveloped by snow-covered fir trees, perhaps even to be discovered with headlamps for an even more adventurous feeling. Definitely worth a try next time.

In short, it’s an excellent game plan to liven up the school break (exceptionally open every day) or simply to make the most of the last weekends of winter before the arrival of spring!
