At the junction of my two favourite seasons, September is one of the most beautiful months of the year! We wanted to extend the summer by cycling along the river on the Parcours des Anses.

 An unmissable route

Recognised as one of the most beautiful outdoor corridors in Quebec, we’re lucky to have this cycle path just a few pedal strokes from home (and directly accessible from the Lévis river station if you’re arriving from Quebec City by ferry). The route is aptly named, as there are several small coves where you can stop for a picnic or simply enjoy a superb view of the river and Quebec City, with your feet in the sand at several of the stops.

We headed for the Maison Louis Fréchette (link in french), a museum offering a variety of activities and cultural initiatives. The birthplace of poet and politician Louis Fréchette, the almost two-hundred-year-old house also helps to promote the heritage and history of Lévis.

 Fascinating creatures

The current exhibition Attention: créatures! (on show until the end of September) piqued our curiosity. Through visual and audio works, we plunge into the world of legends to discover mysterious species, both real and mythical. The exhibition presents a bestiary of fascinating creatures that are said to lurk in the lakes and forests of Quebec. Excellent storytellers made the experience all the more memorable by creating enigmatic atmospheres. We also really enjoyed the Espace Conte, dedicated to the literary legacy of Louis Fréchette. It was a captivating immersive experience, showcasing the age-old tradition of storytelling through a series of short dramatisations of a moment from Louis Fréchette’s childhood (a favourite with the children).

 An excellent summer address

We then climbed back on our bikes to soak up the sun on the terrace of Quai 1635. In the Lévis marina itself, it’s hard to feel more on holiday than in front of all those sailing boats docked in the basin overlooking the restaurant (open until 14 September). The relaxed, welcoming atmosphere promises to be a pleasant experience, and the menu had us salivating! Cod fritters and fried squid to share, lobster guédille, cauliflower tacos, salmon tartare, fish’n chips and a tasty burger, accompanied by their homemade cocktails – a tasty bistro menu that we thoroughly enjoyed! An excellent summer address in Lévis, where we’ll definitely be coming back for the sunset version!
