A family adventure on the trails of Les 3 Mont de Coleraine

Les petits pieds du bonheur

Recently, we were lucky enough to stay at the magnificent Chalet le Convivial, located in the Sentiers Pédestres des 3 Monts. Honestly, I was a little apprehensive about our getaway given the rain forecast, but we were really lucky.

A chalet big enough for a large family

I was with 3 of my boys. We arrived late in the afternoon and the rain had stopped. Hurrah! As it was already getting dark, we decided to stay in the chalet and enjoy it.

Chalet le Convivial is really big, on two floors with lots of windows to maximise the light. And what can we say about the view? It was magnificent, especially with the fall colours. The chalet is big enough for a large family (yes, like ours). There was plenty of room. The ground floor was the communal area for cooking, eating and relaxing by the fireplace, and the second floor had two large beds and a sofa bed. Honestly, I fell in love with it because I’d never seen a chalet big enough for a large family.

 A wish granted

So, in the evening, we had our meal and as it was my Raphaël’s birthday, we had brought a cake for the occasion. Afterwards, the children played games while I read a book.

During the night, it rained heavily. I was really hoping it would stop or at least calm down so we could go hiking the next day. My wish came true! In the morning, the weather was grey, but there was no rain. We still wore our raincoats just in case.

We decided to do Mont Caribou. The climb went well, despite a few slippery spots. William is very good, despite the slightly rougher sections. I loved seeing the larch needles covering the ground. It was magnificent. These are my favorite photos of the hike.

 A path above the clouds

When we got to the top, as I’d expected, we didn’t have the most extraordinary view. On the other hand, my grandson said: “Mummy, we’re above the clouds! It just goes to show that children can be amazed by anything. Still, we had a few clearings here and there.

At the top, we took some photos and there was a hiker who was able to take us together. My son really enjoyed chatting with her. Afterwards we went back to the chalet for our traditional hot chocolate and while I was getting everything ready for our return home, the children took the opportunity to read and play another board game.

 We'll have to come back!

In short, it was a very pleasant stay and I really loved this chalet for its size and everything it has to offer. I’ll definitely be coming back. Not to mention the wonderful walks and views.

See you soon!
