The natural landscape of the Thetford region is varied and offers a host of diverse outdoor activities! We’ll take you off the beaten track and show you what a day at Frontenac National Park has in store. What we guarantee: magnificent panoramas, protected territories, quality infrastructures, and the perfect feeling of escape!

 To the beach!

Located on the outskirts of Grand lac Saint-François (the 3rd largest lake south of the St. Lawrence River), Frontenac National Park offers two magnificent beaches where you can cool off and enjoy the summer. The Pointe Saint-Daniel beach is the most popular, thanks to its services and infrastructure.

There’s sand volleyball, charcoal barbecues and even a playground to keep the kids active when they get out of the water. Swimming is supervised (according to a schedule available on the Sépaq website). On the Baie-des-Sables side, you’ll find a charming, natural campsite and a beach where swimming is permitted, but not supervised.

On two wheels on the Le Littoral trail

Parc national de Frontenac boasts a magnificent cycling area in every sector of the park. The Le Littoral trail is a 16-km round trip with no major changes in altitude, making it accessible to all. It, too, is located in the Saint-Daniel sector, where rest stops and viewpoints have been set up… simply magical!

And if you’re a first-timer or prefer to travel light: bikes and helmets are available for hire on site.

Hiking for all in La Tourbière

There are 8 hiking trails, ranging from 3 to 16 km in length and of easy to intermediate calibre. We’d like to draw your attention to La Tourbière, which, as its name suggests, takes you into a unique setting, with ground vegetation made up of peat… a fascinating ecosystem! In addition to being peaceful and zen-like, this 5 km hike (calculate a maximum of 2 hours for the complete loop) is most inclusive, being accessible to strollers and big wheels. We love it!

 Water outing in Muskrat Bay

Parc national de Frontenac is the place to be for water sports! Take a kayak or paddleboard out on the Baie aux Rats Musqués, in the Saint-Daniel sector near the beach.

This outing gives you a unique view of the surrounding landscape and wildlife. What’s more, Grand lac Saint-François is so vast that the more adventurous can stray a little from the bay to explore further offshore! Of course, equipment rental is available on site.
