Parc de la Rivière-Etchemin boasts a relatively short multifunctional trail, punctuated by a few climbs (and descents) and curves that make for a truly enjoyable cycling experience. Pure bliss!

10 km more ... or not?

Spring is finally here and the bike paths are open. Among my first routes of the year is the Parc de la Rivière-Etchemin.

I say among the first, because to get there from our house, I take the Parcours des Anses. So, when we arrive at this intersection, the start of the Parcours des Anses, my girlfriend and I wonder if we should take the Parc de la Rivière-Etchemin trail that ends at the Sentiers La Balade chalet in Saint-Jean-Chrysostome? Often, we decide to continue our bike outing for an extra 10 km of pure bliss.

This relatively short bike trail offers beautiful views of the Etchemin River, with a belvedere and rest areas dotted throughout. I particularly like stopping at the belvedere, which is closest to the river with its small waterfalls.

A little effort that's worth it

Back to our bike outing itself, what I appreciate most are the various curves and climbs and descents that make the ride less monotonous and allow you to push the effort a little harder if you feel like it.

I usually take a little break at the end of the trail at Sentiers La Balade, nibbling on a soft bar, and the return trip is just as enjoyable.

 Same, different!

On the way back, take the time to notice that it’s just as beautiful, but a little different in the opposite direction.

Psttt… Oh yes, if you don’t have a bike, you can rent one at Hadlow, located at the intersection of Parcours des Anses and Parc de la Rivière-Etchemin. You can also rent gravel, mountain or electric-assist bikes.
