In Chaudière-Appalaches, there is the word «Appalaches», we must not forget. If the river and its villages are charming, the mountains do not cease to surprise me this year. The landscapes are breathtaking: the lunar landscape left by the mines, the lifts that dot the horizon and the "boom town" houses are so many jewels that have charmed me. And the fog gives it mystical airs.
Day 1
Start your journey by making some gourmet stops directly from producers from here of fruits and vegetables and of honey .
Discover the military history of Domaine du Radar and enjoy hiking, biking and swimming at the lake.
Then descend on the Appalachian Mountains and discover our Irish and Scottish roots. Take a moment to discover Kinnear's Mills, an out-of-the-ordinary village. Treat yourself with a guided tour of the village .
Direction Thetford Mines, where the impressive mines will welcome you.
In the evening, go for an historic stroll in the city center of Thetford , you will be charmed by the many discoveries of the place.
Spend a night in one of accomodations offered in the heart of this charming city.
Day 2
The next day, for the curious of this spectacular heritage, a visit at the Musée minéralogique et minier de Thetford Mines is required and at the new site of Centre historique de la mine King KB3 which offers a breathtaking view of the area.
Then, head to the Parc National de Frontenac to appreciate the large green spaces and live the adventure!
Discover this site by bike, by taking the 16 km bike path along the majestic Grand Lac Saint-François. Or, opt for a canoe or kayak trip to admire the beauty of the landscapes around you.
In the St-Daniel sector, take a moment to swim on their beautiful beach which can regularly reach a temperature of 26 ° C.
Enjoy a privileged contact with the fauna and flora by staying in camping, canoe-camping, ready-to-camp, rustic camp or in one of the 8 intimate cottages located on the lake.
Day 3
Start your day, by the unusual Vélorails de Beaulac-Garthby on the edge of Lake Aylmer. You will be seduced by this fun and surprising activity.
Still thirsty for adventure? Take a hike to Sentiers pédestres des 3 Monts of Coleraine where you will be able to discover points of view of the 1890 chromite mines visible from the trails.
Take the road again and let yourself be surprised by the striking sights. A stop is needed at the Magasin général O'Brien. In front of the place, discover a breathtaking view of an old open pit mine at the Old Black Lake Lookout.

Day 4
Take your time to enjoy a good lunch and continue your journey through the village of Sainte-Agathe. Do not miss the 1928 "Town" covered bridge that spans the waters of the Palmer River. To end your journey in style, go and taste some organic birch wine and syrup !
