Welcome to Musée Maritime du Québec - Capitaine J.E. Bernier

«Like you, I've changed. Come back and see me.»

Close your eyes and let yourself be carried away by Brise-glace: a sound immersion in the universe of Ernest Lapointe by the artist Caroline Gagné. Climb aboard the ship with L’Équipée, the new digital self-guided tour. Be all ears with L’Écho des fluides by Jean-Sébastien Veilleux and messagealamer by Jean-Pierre Bourgault.

The MMQ is a magnificent place to dive into the maritime history of Quebec through its exhibitions Racines de mer, Le temps des chaloupes, Captain J.E. Bernier 1852-1934 and the Hydrofoil NCMS Bras D'Or.

Climb aboard the Brise-Glace Ernest Lapointe

Have you ever seen an engine room? What is it like in a sailor's cabin? What is an officer's kitchen and dining room like? Can you imagine what it feels like to be in command of such a large ship?  Experience these sensations by visiting this magnificent ship in its entirety, from May 19 to August 16. Thanks to a non-contact audio guide, you'll also learn how the captain and his crew thumbed their noses at the harsh Nordic climate for three decades.

Note: Access to the river park and the visit to the Brise-Glace Ernest Lapointe icebreaker end exceptionally on August 15, 2021 due to a major renovation of the site (major project).
