In a few words

This historic heritage site is an exceptional site. It includes Cumberland's 1847 St. Paul's Church with its original furnishings, its cemetery and its memorial. Adjacent to the site is a 350,000 square foot English garden. In the garden you will find nine interpretive panels about the history of the Cumberland fief and its inhabitants from 1782 to the present day. Why an Anglo-Saxon fief in Beauce in 1782. The first Lords of Cumberland played an important role in the history of Quebec. A visit to the site takes us back in time through an experience leading us to the discovery of a true story. Kept undisclosed until today, Cumberland Mills was inhabited by English Anglicans and mostly Catholic Irish. Why were there so many religious wars in Europe between the French and English when here they lived side by side?

On-site shelters and picnic tables.

Visit duration : 1.30 h

For Real!

The last of the Wintle family, I have archived the history of Cumberland's English families. I look forward to sharing this story and providing you with a memorable experience among its buried secrets
